Scotland Tour 2018
April 5, 2020
In 2018 we were fortunate enough to get to go to Scotland and visit some of our suppliers. For both of us this was extremely beneficial as we learnt more about the shoes we are currently selling, how they are made, where they are made and the people on the other end of the email.
We started the day with a tour through Thistle shoes. We met the team and saw the process of how they individually hand make each pair of shoes. We saw a pair of shoes go from an order on a piece of paper all the way through to being packed ready for despatch. Seeing the difference in the lasts they were cut from helped make sense of how the shoes fit and what the similarities are in the shoes. Thistle offer plenty of customisations from the colour of the leather through to the colour of the stitching. We can not thank Thistle enough as it helped us better help our customers in finding the best shoe for their foot.
We wandered across the road to Linda at St Andrews Shoemakers. She provided us with an absolutely lovely lunch and explained to us the difference in the styles and fit of the James Senior ghillies and how we could easily convert ball bearing jig shoes to jingle without having to order in both styles. They had plenty of stock ready to supply all the dancers worldwide wearing their shoes.
We will go back to Scotland specifically to visit more of our suppliers as unfortunately as it was part of the dance school trip and we had our daughters with us we were limited in time and the distance we could travel whilst they were doing workshops. Putting faces to names and face to face contact is always beneficial and the more knowledge we can get the better we can help you.
